Phytosterols in Skincare
Phytosterols are natural plant molecules that lock in moisture to help keep skin hydrated. They work to prevent water loss from the skin, which reduces dryness and flakiness. Phytosterols, which are structurally similar to cholesterol found in the skin, uphold the skin's natural protective layer.
Lipid Layer Enhancers in Skincare
Lipid layer enhancers are refatting emollients added to a formula to provide the skin with the lipids it needs. They increase the moisture content of the skin by reducing evaporation, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth and non-greasy.
Malic Acid in Skincare
Malic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) found in many fruits that helps stimulate exfoliation by interfering with how your skin cells bond. Its function is beneficial in removing surface dull skin to reveal healthier-looking skin. As an humectant, it can also provide added hydration to the skin.
