If you’re new to retinoids and/or have more sensitive skin, try the “retinal sandwich” method, a process that helps reduce potential for irritation by layering moisturizing products like Half & Half Fluid Moisturizer before and after a retinoid like Retinal Renew.

Half & Half Fluid Moisturizer: A lightweight liquid emulsion that moisturizes and boosts barrier function.

THE BEGINNER BUFFER

The beauty of our advanced retinaldehyde gel, Retinal Renew, is that it glides on skin and absorbs quickly—which makes it incredibly easy to apply and layer. And if you’re new to retinoids or have more sensitive skin, sandwiching the formula between layers of Half & Half creates the perfect buffer.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I incorporate Retinal Renew and Half & Half into my routine?

Cleanse. Apply a layer of Half & Half, wait for it to fully absorb. Apply Retinal Renew. Follow with another layer of Half & Half.

Can I use Retinal Renew if I have sensitive skin?

Because sensitive skin can vary based on the individual, we recommend that those with sensitive skin do a small patch test prior to full-face application. We also recommend those with sensitive skin start by using the product 1-2 nights a week and slowly increasing to nightly use as tolerated. For those with very sensitive skin, layering over moisturizer (ex. Half + Half), is also a nice way to incorporate the product with more of a buffer.

Are these products vegan? Gluten free?

Yes, both products are vegan and gluten-free.

How is Half and Half best used?

For dry skin types, shake into palms and pat into the skin, neck and chest. Allow it to absorb and then go in with richer moisturizers. For those with more oily complexions, this product can be moisturizing enough by itself.
